The filming process went well! It actually allowed me to travel a bit and step out into adventure, which is what this film is about.
I am SO thankful for all my friends that allowed me to follow them with a camera and pose them for a good shot, I would not be able to do this without them.

I'm going to be honest, my video planning skills are pretty poor. I feel like ideas never flow out of me unless I have a camera in my hand and am already making the film. But alas, stepping out of my creative comfort zone is why I chose this project.
This week I forced myself to plan for my final short film. This one is pretty different than the others and has more of a motivational vibe to it rather than telling a story. We'll see how filming and editing go! I am involved in a sort of mentorship class at my school entitled PEER and this year I was a part of the video team. We were tasked with two videos to create for our assembly, "HERO IN THE HALLWAY." Because I was heavily working on this project and multiple others, I decided to let JAZZ rest for a while with the intentions that I will come back to it for the fieldwork time in which I will create a longer film.
For HITH we created two videos; I will explain the first here and the second in the next post. Our interview, documentary based video was out "Touchy" video. We did not have an official name for it, we just knew that we wanted it to be the tear-jerker video. In this, we had four students from my high school sit and talk about their lives: hardships, family, school life, etc. It came to be twelve minutes long. The editing and shooting for this video was way more last minute than ideal, but we pulled it together. The end product was okay, some parts hit and some parts did not. The effectiveness mostly came down to the way each interviewee told their story because we had minimal b-roll. I wish it had turned out better but we had to make do and show what we pulled together. The video was not bad by any means, but could have been better. Overall with the Touchy video I do think we got our point across that everyone's story matters. |
